There is a bug in the JSON export functionality of the Checklists add-on whereby the task description field is not included the JSON file. If a description is included in a task description on the add-on, it is not found in the exported JSON file.

Noteably, it is possible to manually add a “description” field to the JSON file and have that successfuly import into the add-on generated checklist.
