We will work on a first iteration of this now.

I think we would use https://vote.seibert-media.net/checklists-for-atlassian/p/allow-link-for-tasks-without-being-part-of-the-text in favour of this.
I think we'd become frustrated quickly because there would be no rich text editing (as compared to the Confluence page editor) and so just a picture/video/text/whatever would quickly turn into "...I wish it could also do xyz...".
I see this as a never ending need for additional functionality to appease everyone, which it so happens, Confluence page editors do really well.
Just my two cents. :-)

Cameron Clancy: I agree, that a picture to describe a task would not help much. But this is about soneone filling out a checklist who should be able to quickly snap a photo and attach it to the checklist task. That makes more sense, right?
Cameron Clancy
Martin Seibert: Yes, that's a different scenario completely then.
In which case I'm not sure
where
the image should best go - attached per task or attached per checklist?I'm on the fence about this one - I'm sure others can add to this thought process...
Martin Seibert
Cameron Clancy: My assumption is, that it's simpler to add one image per checklist so we'll start with this and see how well that fares.

The voters of this feature want users (checklist fillers) to be able to upload images for a specific task, correct?
What about images per task added by the template creator to better explain a single task?
Do these images (uploaded by user or added by template creator) require a
direct visual assignment to the task or could they simply be included in a section „images" under the task list?

Andreas Mauer: "What about images per task added by the template creator to better explain a single task? " <-- would also be great.
"Do these images (uploaded by user or added by template creator) require a direct visual assignment to the task or could they simply be included in a section „images" under the task list?" <-- they could be included in a separate section IF they are matched to the task (best would be with the filename for export). For example file name of the image is written below the task it was taken for and shown below in the image section ?

A picture is worth a thousand words. That would be a great improvement.
Andreas Mauer
Are there use cases where you may need to take multiple images per task?
Axel Blumentritt
Andreas Mauer: Yes, e.g. Repairing a shower in multiple steps. I would assume for most instructions the usage of multiple pictures would be very helpful.
